The great spinetail (''Synallaxis hypochondriaca'') is a species of bird in the Furnariidae family. It formerly was considered monotypic within the genus ''Siptornopsis''., however in 2012 the SACC included it in the genus Synallaxis based on studies by Derryberry (2011). It is endemic to Peru. Its natural habitat is Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation. It is threatened by habitat loss. ==References==
